Kevin Allen Kevin Allen - Director of Admissions
Mr. Allen began his career in the field of Juvenile Justice as a Juvenile Probation Officer in June 1984 in Marshall County, Indiana. He was promoted to Chief Probation Officer in 1986 and served as such until he began his employment with Sequel Youth and Family Services. In September of 2002 Kevin accepted the position of National Marketing Representative with Sequel Youth and Family Services, part of his territory included the state of Michigan. In June 2007, Kevin began his current position of Admissions Director at Lakeside Academy. kallen@lakesideacademy.net
   
Frank Gee Frank Gee - Director of Support Services
Frank completed his Bachelors in Design and Industry and Masters in Education at San Francisco State University in 1972 and began his professional career with a multitude of military assignments and responsibilities for the next 20 years as an F-4/F-16 fighter pilot. He retired from active duty in 1993 and began a new life by entering the Ph.D. program at the University of Utah for Special Education and a new career of administering engineering and construction programs. Frank advised and trained construction, engineering and maintenance personnel and subcontractors in site management to include safety and security, facility support operations, quality assurance, and all aspects of disaster preparedness and response. Frank has been a facility safety, security, and risk management consultant for numerous healthcare companies and has the expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable Joint Commission EOC codes, standards of government and regulatory agencies. With over 15 years experience in this career field, Frank has earned all the applicable hands on experience, apprenticeships, internships, certifications, and Ph.D. to perform any industrial, healthcare, or maintenance type inspection or survey. fgee@lakesideacademy.net
   
Krista Goebel Krista Goebel-Director of Training & Compliance
After graduating from Western Michigan University in 2001, Krista began her tenure at Lakeside for Children as a Youth Treatment Provider. She has held many positions at Lakeside over the years, among them direct care, training, activities coordinator, case manager and lifeguard. During a hiatus from Lakeside, Krista taught in outdoor schools in California, North Carolina and New Hampshire and served a year in Americorps*VISTA. Krista returned to Kalamazoo in Summer 2007 to join the Lakeside Academy team and pursue a graduate degree. She anticipates completing the Master of Social Work program in Spring 2010. In her spare time Krista enjoys camping, reading and spending time with her golden retriever, Judah. Judah anticipates graduating from Therapy Dogs International in the Fall of 2010. kgoebel@lakesideacademy.net
   
1 Erin Newton - Director of Human Resources & IT
Erin Newton has worked on the Lakeside campus since 2002. She started working for Lakeside for Children in the front office and as a member of the Training Department. In 2004 she became the IT administrator and in 2006 began working in the Human Resources Department. Erin joined the Lakeside Academy team when it opened in June of 2007 and serves as the Director of Human Resources and IT. She attended the University of Iowa and Western Michigan University studying English and Journalism. When not at Lakeside, Erin enjoys taking family trips with her husband and three children. Being a native of Kalamazoo, Erin is very dedicated to Lakeside’s over 100 year history. enewton@lakesideacademy.net
   
Daniel O'Lena Daniel O’Lena RN - Director of Nursing
Dan began his career with Sequel Youth & Family Services in 2003 at Woodward Academy, located in Woodward, IA. He was promoted to Nursing Director in 2004. In August 2007 he transferred to Lakeside Academy, as the Director of Nursing. Dan has worked as a Registered Nurse since 1995. When not at Lakeside, he volunteers as a youth leader in student ministries working with middle school kids. Mike Rowley Mike Rowley - Executive Director
Mike has been employed with Lakeside Academy since June of 2009. He received his bachelors and masters degrees in social work from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Mike began his career with youth working as a therapist at Copper Hills Youth Center in West Jordan, Utah. During his time at Copper Hills (1997-2008) Mike was a Program Director, Chief Operating Officer, and in 2001 became the Chief Executive Officer. While at Copper Hills, he and the facility developed specialty programming for lower functioning youth, lower functioning offenders, youth with Aspergers Syndrome, and adolescent female sex offenders. Prior to coming to work at Lakeside, Mike was consulting with Sequel Youth and Family Services developing specialty programming for adolescents. Mike currently serves Lakeside Academy as the Executive Director. mrowley@lakesideacademy.net
   
Jon St. Pierre Jon St. Pierre – Director of Group Living
Jon began his career in Residential Treatment at Normative Services Inc. (NSI) located in Sheridan, WY, in 1999. Jon has held many roles including Youth Counselor, Program Coordinator, Team Leader & Assistant Group Living Director. Jon also served as Athletic Director, Head Basketball Coach and Head Football Coach during his time at NSI. In 2004, Jon became a trainer for Sequel Youth & Family Services. In 2006, Jon started his own business. He then returned to Sequel at Lakeside Academy in July 2009 as Director of Group Living. jstpierre@lakesideacademy.net
